Sr. Image Scientist

Space is in our DNA. Orbital Sidekick combines and harnesses the power of hardware and software platforms to deliver the ultimate monitoring solution.

As a Senior Image Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Exploit HSI data to extract product-driven information
  • Develop ground truthing experiments and help develop OSK’s proprietary spectral library
  • Apply advanced spectral and spatial machine learning techniques for hyperspectral image analysis and classification
  • Assist in the development of OSK’s data ingestion and processing capabilities for satellite and aerial hyperspectral images

Basic qualifications needed:

  • MS or PhD in imaging science, computer sciences or related field
  • 5+ years of work experience handling HSI data
  • Exceptional skills in Python, C or C++, ENVI, and QGIS

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Spectral library development
  • Experience with aerial/space-based hyperspectral remote sensing data
  • Experience with radiometric calibration, signal to noise ratio performance modeling, and atmospheric modelling

Additional Requirements

  • Seed stage startups require extended work hours and weekend work as needed. Be comfortable in spending extra time and effort to become a successful member of OSK’s team so that we can succeed in achieving our objectives and goals.
  • Individual should be comfortable being the responsible expert in multiple subject matters
  • Some travel may be necessary.

Sr. Software Engineer

As Sr. Software Engineer, your responsibilities will be: –

  • Define and develop the back end infrastructure for OSK’s satellite and aerial hyperspectral images
  • Developing machine learning algorithms to detect anomalies and changes
  • Processing large amounts of scientific datasets

Basic qualification needed

  • MS or PhD in imaging science, computer sciences or related field
  • 5+ years of full stack software engineering and/or work-related industry experience
  • Previous success with automated image processing
  • Experience with computer vision algorithm development
  • Exceptional skills in Python, C or C++, MATLAB, JAVA, SQL program

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Google cloud platform or AWS
  • Neural networks, including machine learning & spectral change detection
  • Experience with aerial/space-based remote sensing data
  • Experience with high speed and performance computing and scaling up digital infrastructure

Head of Product

Orbital Sidekick combines and harnesses the power of hardware and software platforms to deliver the ultimate monitoring solution.

Orbital Sidekick is currently seeking a Head of Product. The Head of Product will be responsible for overseeing the development and deployment of Spectral Intelligence, OSK’s oil & gas pipeline monitoring service product. They understand how OSK should develop products to address needs of oil & gas pipeline operators.  They will be responsible for the overall quality, specifications, and delivery mechanisms of Spectral Intelligence. They will have expertise in remote sensing technologies and tools and be able to translate customer needs into engineering requirements, as well as turn engineering research and development work into customer value. The successful candidate will interface with and synchronize the efforts of the analytics, operations, and engineering teams to achieve product delivery.

He/She will also be expected to:

  • Become intimately knowledgeable about all technical elements of hyperspectral data analysis and present capabilities to internal customers.
  • Develop roadmaps, monitor development schedules and continually assess technical & programmatic risks.
  • Provide business development support to the business development/marketing teams and engineering support to the analytics and operations teams.
  • Analyze program requirements and develop detailed objectives, plans, conceptual designs and perform risk analysis. Plan strategies for analysis, test and design against varying requirements.
  • Lead in the development of reports and design notes.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to analytics team in the design, test, production and maintenance phases of the product.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Candidates should have experience in a GIS, SaaS and/or data products-related industry.
  • A strong history of communicating with external customers and providing direction to internal suppliers, self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are required.
  • Experience with integrating and deploying analytics and data products.
  • Education in a technical field, preferably aerospace engineering, computer science, remote sensing, or imaging science.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Cloud computing, machine learning, imaging science, and GIS products.
  • Familiarity with several programming languages and environments including Python, C/C++, Matlab, and IDL.
  • Familiar with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
